  • If you are planning on spending most of your time in Guanacaste, its better to consider flying into Liberia (LIR) international airport. Flying into San Jose will make you loose a day or two at arrival and departure. If we consider the hotel spending and the rent a car, might be worth the airfare price difference of flying to Liberia. Plus you get more vacation time.
  • Don’t change to many dollars into colones at the airport when you arrived, exchange is very bad. Maybe change $100 or so. You can change later at any bank. You can pay with dollars almost everywhere.
  • If you get pull over by the Police, for speeding at the hwy, don’t bride them, get your fine and pay it at Banco de Costa Rica, usually is under $10, unless you really, blew it.
  • If you are looking for property, don’t tell everybody. Here we have small towns with a lot of self call realtors, so you can find your self in an uncomfortable situation with a lot of new friends and people you don’t know offering you property. Look for a professional agent, with a real estate license.
